No Losers in the Presidential Election! Cultural Power Will Surpass National Power
The January presidential election once again brought the world’s attention to Taiwan, and in my personal opinion, there were no losers.
The ruling party of the green camp retained the presidency, while the blue camp became the largest party in the parliament, serving as a significant supervisory force. However, the most noteworthy outcome was the third force, which won eight seats in the non-constituency constituency solely through small-scale crowdfunding. Although the election process was intense and filled with hidden intentions, it did not cause significant ethnic divisions or social costs.
From the election results, we can clearly see the significant cognitive differences between different ethnic groups. The group that experienced the White Terror era strongly fears another group that may sell out the country, while the group that enjoyed economic growth worries about Taiwan’s continued decline and lack of future. Many young people actively persuaded their elders, hoping that this time their voices would be heard, even though they may not have the right to vote as they are still teenagers.
Who is right? Who is wrong? In fact, there is no right or wrong, just different people from different eras, different life experiences, different standpoints, and different choices.
The “Little Grass” who once called herself a young girl from Taipei First Girls’ High School is now a middle-aged woman. Seeing the young people from the White Power movement wearing decorations on their heads and calling themselves “Little Grass,” their feelings are mixed.
The emergence of blockchain has had an impact comparable to war.
Ten years ago, the older generation would get nervous when they saw things being sold online, wondering if it was a scam. But now, children swipe their screens with their hands, and they consider laptops with screens that cannot be swiped as outdated. This is the generation gap! We actually live in parallel universes that exist in the realities perceived by each person.
Because the world is changing too fast.
The emergence of the internet and blockchain has had a tremendous impact on the world, an impact that is no less than that of war or a change in regime!
The invention of blockchain stems from a lack of trust in the center, and in plain terms, this center refers to absolute power, namely, the United States government.
Bitcoin (BTC), this decentralized ledger, is called “mining” for the act of verifying transactions and has a set total limit. It simulates gold, creating an unchangeable central value unit for the future world.
But for over 90% of the world’s population, what on earth is blockchain and cryptocurrency? Why should something virtual be worth over $40,000? Even though the United States has already approved the legal issuance of Bitcoin futures ETF.
Bitcoin is simulating gold, creating an unchangeable central value unit for the future world.
As for NFTs and Web3, there is no need to discuss them; they are simply 100% scams! Most people cannot understand what these young people are crazy about…
Surpassing national power! “Cultural power” determines the future direction
But if we open our eyes and look around, we will see that our elementary school campuses have already been dominated by mainland China’s “Dancing Wave in Taiwan.” Almost everyone can perform the “Subject Three,” a peculiar invention from a small city in Guangxi, like a virus spreading uncontrollably.
The Web3 future world constructed by the internet and blockchain will undoubtedly subvert human cognition. In that world, national systems and all old methods will be outdated. Who says there is no home without a nation? In the future, we can all be citizens of the world, engaging in our own businesses, making friends, and starting families using currencies not issued by any central bank. We can do all this in the metaverse.
We can all be citizens of the world, engaging in our own businesses, making friends, and starting families using currencies not issued by any central bank in the metaverse.
And what will truly determine our path forward will no longer be the reasons of any powerful state or money but rather “cultural power.”
This world is an organism, and anything that adheres to the principles of supply and demand in economics will be invented, disseminated, used, and reproduced. This cannot be dominated by any single entity or will, and that is precisely what blockchain aims to achieve through decentralization!
Therefore, starting from now, let us abandon all past prejudices and observe and feel the changes in this world with an open heart. The future is actually quite promising.
Opinion articles present diverse views and do not represent the standpoint of “WEB3+.”
