Taobao’s Taiwan branch, Taobao Tmall Overseas, recently announced a partnership with Jkopay, officially introducing localized payment services to target Taiwanese users such as students and those without credit cards. Users can now choose Jkopay as a payment method, making the payment process more convenient.
Jkopay is the only electronic payment platform in Taiwan that directly connects with 29 major banks. Through this collaboration with Taobao, users on the Taobao website no longer need to bind their credit cards. Instead, they can make payments through their bank accounts or stored value methods, allowing groups such as college students without credit cards to easily shop without paying a 1.5% overseas transaction fee.
Jkopay General Manager, Fan Tingzhen, pointed out that through Jkopay’s advantage of having a large number of real-name verified users, Taiwanese consumers in the future will not need to repeatedly enter payment information or undergo identity verification. They can use the new payment method on Taobao for cross-border shopping without paying the overseas transaction fee for credit cards. In addition, they can also accumulate Jkopay currency rewards.
Taobao officially announced its partnership with Jkopay, targeting users such as students and those without credit cards.
For this collaboration, Liu Huijuan, General Manager of Taobao Tmall Taiwan, stated that the introduction of Taiwan’s leading electronic payment brand, Jkopay, allows consumers who previously lacked credit cards to buy cross-border goods on Taobao. It also supports local partners in further expanding the user base for cross-border shopping, bringing about cross-border growth dividends for both parties.
In addition, Taobao is offering two major promotions for Jkopay users. Users who pay with the “Jie Li Savings Account” on Jkopay will enjoy a 2% Jkopay currency reward without a cap on every transaction amount. Users who pay with the “Jkopay Account” will enjoy a maximum 1% Jkopay currency reward without a cap on every transaction amount. From 8 p.m. on October 31 to November 11, there will be a limited-time offer of waived transaction fees during checkout, targeting the Double 11 shopping festival.
In addition to Jkopay, Taobao also provides various payment options such as Visa, JCB, Citibank account payment, and Jkopay to meet the diverse needs of consumers and provide more flexible choices.
In 2024, in addition to site-wide promotions, Taobao’s Double 11 will also launch the “First Purchase Red Packet” plan for new users. New users who register a Taobao account can immediately receive a RMB 60 shopping voucher (approximately TWD 270). First-time buyers will also enjoy three exclusive services: free local returns, zero taxes, and no payment processing fees.
Furthermore, this year, Taobao offers free shipping for over 10 billion items on the entire site. For single purchases over RMB 99 (approximately TWD 445), customers can choose to pick up their items at 7-ELEVEN convenience stores or have them delivered by sea shipping, both free of charge.
