USDT in Your Mobile Can “Instantly Withdraw Korean Won”, Say Goodbye to Currency Exchange!
The Kaia DLT Foundation (Kaia) announced that the blockchain fintech company DaWinKS officially supports the USDT issued by Kaia, which can be used at its digital ATMs (DTM) located at major tourist landmarks in South Korea. This service is tailored for tourists heading to South Korea and K-pop enthusiasts, allowing users to withdraw cash (local currency) directly from their Kaia USDT deposits or apply for a prepaid transportation card through this offline digital asset deposit and withdrawal channel, achieving a seamless connection between virtual assets and real-world payment scenarios.
DaWinKS DTM utilizes passport scanning and facial recognition authentication technology, employing the identity verification solution used at South Korean airport immigration. After completing KYC, users can withdraw digital assets or activate a prepaid card by scanning a barcode or QR code on the device, supporting 85 fiat currencies from 15 countries. Before departure, users can also exchange any remaining cash for US dollars. The exchange rate for digital assets is calculated based on real-time rates every day.
Currently, DTM supporting Kaia USDT has covered seven popular landmarks in South Korea: N Seoul Tower, Homeplus (Hogye and Centum City stores), Lotte Mart (Gwangbok store), LIFEWORK Myeongdong flagship store, Myeongdong Money Club, and Namdaemun Exchange Café. This service will also gradually expand to major Lotte Mart stores nationwide.
At present, this service is only open to foreign users, with plans to expand to local consumers by the end of the year to achieve broader user coverage.
Since the end of last year, DaWinKS’s DTM devices have supported three mainstream digital assets: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoin USDT. The integration of Kaia USDT marks a further deepening of the collaboration between DaWinKS and Kaia. The two parties are also actively promoting the inclusion of Kaia’s native asset $KAIA into the DTM service system.
Jong-myeong Lee, CEO of DaWinKS, stated, “Based on our experience in currency exchange, cryptocurrency ATMs, and QR code payments across multiple fintech areas, DaWinKS is continuously expanding the practical application scenarios for stablecoins. Our cooperation with Kaia will help promote the widespread use of stablecoins in Asia. Kaia works closely with mainstream Web3 and fintech companies like Tether and LINE NEXT, and this collaboration will inject significant momentum into the global layout of DTM.”
Dr. Sam Seo from the Kaia DLT Foundation added, “The collaboration with DaWinKS is an important milestone in promoting the real-world application of Kaia’s native USDT and the local stablecoin to be launched in the future. We anticipate that as users’ understanding and acceptance of stablecoins increase, the actual demand for cross-border exchange, deposits, and withdrawals will also grow correspondingly. Kaia will work with DaWinKS to expand DTM services to a broader range of domestic and international scenarios.”
